Mission Statement

The mission of the African American Board Leadership Institute is to strengthen nonprofit, public, and private organizations through the placement of African American leaders on a broad range of governing boards. AABLI takes responsibility for the recruiting, preparing, and assisting with the placements of such African American leaders to make the process as smooth as possible.

Notable Milestones

  • Trained 842 African American professionals to serve on governing boards through the Board Leadership Program (BLP)
  • Over 25,000 individuals engaged. This includes program participants, volunteers, donors, and social media followers
  • Nearly 300 alumni currently serve on boards. 40% of those placements are a direct result of AABLI Board Placement Services
  • Developed and executed custom training for corporations to create lasting change that contributes to employees’ success. Companies include Toyota, the Weingart Foundation, and LISC LA Local Initiatives Support Corporation.
