Jonathan Sandville

Jonathan Sandville is a dynamic and results-oriented leader with two decades of experience and a strong track record in developing corporate partnerships, leveraging venture philanthropy, and structuring opportunities that blend public, philanthropic, and private support.

As president and CEO of AABLI, he is responsible for leading and scaling the operations and geographic footprint nationally — while providing solutions and training opportunities for corporations, grant makers, nonprofit organizations, individuals, and government entities committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In previous roles, he managed a $15 million grant-making portfolio at the Ford Foundation and served as executive director of the Educational and Scholarship Fund at the City University of New York (CUNY). His background also includes development leadership at the National Urban League, where he was responsible for managing strategic alliances between the League and its partners, and at Liberty Science Center, where he served as a vice president.

Sandville’s work on equity-related issues led to an appointment as chief development officer for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF). At LDF, he helped raise millions in the effort to expand democracy and achieve racial justice.

As chief development officer for GLAAD, Sandville worked to promote and ensure fair, accurate, and inclusive representation of people and events across all forms of media. He led a team whose fundraising efforts attracted millions of annual dollars and generated millions more in new business development through marketing and branding partnerships with Wells Fargo, NBCUniversal, Walt Disney Television (formerly ABC-Disney Television Group), American Airlines, AT&T, Neiman Marcus, Lexus, and UBS.

Sandville earned a master’s degree in international educational development from Columbia University, a master’s degree in international economics from the University of Ghana, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Clark Atlanta University.
